This site got $35,000 donations in one week!

I thought id post this as im sure many webmasters would be interested to know that this site raised $35,000 in less then a week through donations from its readers....it seems mabye many people are starting to get the message just how much time and money it costs to produce a quality website....

It depends on what kind of site you run for it to work.

That's a very techy site, and most of the visitors know what it's like to run sites, and business on the internet. They're also a large community.

If SitePoint asked for donations, I'm sure there'd be lots of people who would donate, simply because people love the forums, content, and the people.

Without yet reading the wired article it sounds nice.
I have a not-for-profit site coming soon and though this looks positive........maybe I'm mistaken.
