    Google re-indexing

Google has just re-indexed and the results are up. Go to www3.google.com to be sure. Yeah! I am now on the first page for the search term "freebies" . On overture this term gets around 130,000 searches a month, I'm not sure about google though. I am #10 for this term.

So they haven't updated yet? I just watched my visitor count go down by 300-400 a day and I assumed that was due to an "unfavourable" google update. I hope you are right!

    Yeah baby!!!!!!

    I am now number:
1 out of 165,000 for the keyword "windows POS software"
2 out of 574,000 for our main keyword "POS software"
1 out of 3,830 for the keyword "OPOS software"
10 out of 2,170,000 for the keyword "retail software"

These are our main keywords!!! only lacking the keyword "Cash register software"

sorry, just had to brag, its been a long hard road to achieve those results and nobody at work would care or understand.

So what's next?, guess I should try and achieve those results in more than just Google. Guess I should target MSN next? but MSN seems too hard right now.

Not to rain on your parade but I'd wait atleast a week before celebrating.

Sometimes Google updates in pieces, they did so last time, meaning some of your competitors might not be in the updated index yet.

Yeah the google dance isn't finished yet.

First stage shows rankings in terms of relevant content. Second stage updates PR and factors that into the results.

It's only at stage 1 at the moment Usually takes about a week to settle.

    Good luck everyone

<-- puts the cork back in the Champagne...

But, I do think those will end up being the results, I was already listed pretty high in those keywords, and I did some additional keyword density changing, so I expected my results to go up, but I am SO pleased with the results.

I'm fairly sure those are the final results. I hope being on the first page of the results for "freebies" will bring me traffic .

It wasn't that hard, took me 4 months though from my original #75th position for the word. Alot of begging for reciprocal links e-mail, and adjusting my title tag.

Yes, the index which was previously at www3.google.com should now be used on the main site.

To be quite honest, I don't know why google use www1, www2 and www3... perhaps a more experienced search-engine-type person (sorry, couldnt think of a better name) could help out.
    Regards, Ant.

    Something like that

It seems that the update has helped me out slightly, gaining a little traffic. Thank god I didn't lost another 70% of my visitors this time around (like I did last time)! <-- That's what you call relying on one search engine too heavily.
    Regards, Ant.

I beleive that google updates its data centers at different times during the update, thats why we all see differing results. It aint over till al data centers have updated.

Some sites Google indexes more often. It choose these sites in some cases manually, in other cases it tries to detect frequently updated pages and it will then index those more often.
