    Using a Jquery activated Pop-Up

Can anyone comment on the efficacy of using a Jquery script to pop open a new window that contains a web form? My main concern is that too many people are blocking pop ups. Please weigh in with your opinions:

Use a lightbox if you're worried about popups. There's a jQuery version called Thickbox. Make sure the link would go to a page containing the form if javascript is disabled. Or just do that anyway - why use a separate window? Keep it simple.
