How do you make an Index? ... of Topic Categories?

Hello,

I need to make a "Subject Index" of all topics such as animals, houses, companies, shop products, people, music, etc etc... a general knowledge classification just like wiki.

Are there some standard open source indices of categories and classifications that i can download in table format to place on the server?

I cant find any information onit, and i only made my first database last week!

what must i do to get my websites category index up and running so it is a standard classification system used in books etc??

After lots of searching i seem to have found some information on it,
that will lead me to technical terms, that mean that i can say in google what i am actually looking for in code speak...

Nonetheless... If you still know any free tables for categories. please say! it would help a bomb!
