    can a form be tableless?

    hey folks,
lately i been working in a lot of tables nested inside div's and the nested div as well as tables and nested tables become so much that its hard to see where the div end of close etc etc. the reason i use tables is u can define
First name straight in front of the data being pulled against first name because its same row but 2 col. is there any way i can totally get rid of tables and is there anyway in dreamweaver to highlight opening and closing of div so u know where it start and ending
All those who wander aren't lost.

I demonstrated how to mark up a fairly complex form a while back, with semantic markup. I does use a couple of tables, but that's because there is some tabular information in there.

But the answer to your question is definitely: yes, you can lay out forms without abusing tables.

    Hi ammark,

AutisticCuckoo's example is a good one and I would support his comments about being very careful in only using tables where there is tabular data. Forms are not normally tabular data although they do follow a box by box layout.

Moreover, content (HTML) from layout (CSS) should be seperated. Following this logic TABLEs can't be used for layout.

    I hope that helps.

    Regards,
