    How do I close a link?

    (strangly theres no html group so I posted here)
    Im putting an image in a sidebar of a shopping cart and linking it. Only problem is after I do that all the written content of the website inherits the same link. It all gets underlined as a normal weblink would.
    My question is how do I close a link "for good"..

    HTML forum: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=52

    You close a link with its closing tag: </a>

    Aha I knew there must be an HTML forum.
    I didnt see it linked from the front page under "Program your site" so assumed there was none.

    </a> !!!!! OF COURSE lol, Im more of a hacker than a coder and little things like this I slip up on, problem fixed.

    Hmm the problem persists in IE8, site works fine in FF and chrome.
    Heres a link if you can take a look.

    The text is all underlined, and link to the page I pasted here. The image link on the left hand side is the origin of this link.

    chagrin, have you ever heard of the w3c validator?

    run it on your web page, it will tell you where the errors are

    specifically, the missing </a> tag is right here --

    <a href="http://dacoumelbourne.com.au/aboriginal-art-dealer-fred-torres/cat_36322.html"><img src="/images/uploads/contact us etc/article.jpg" width="135" height="227" border=0 </a>

    can you see why the </a> is not recognized?

    Hmm I cant figure it, Ive just tried several changes and IE8 still underlines everything.

    I though it could be supposed to end like this

    border="0"> </a>

    instead of how I had it previously

    border=0 </a>

    Still scratching my head.

    You don't need a space between the "> and the </a>. Putting a space there will put a space on your page, which I assume you may not like
