    Unhappy

I'm very sorry to hear of Dan's passing. It's been a long time since I've been active here at the forums, but I do believe the last time I logged in was when I was reading some great stuff by this man.

    He will be missed

I'm so sorry to hear about Dan's passing. I've read countless posts that he started or contributed to and he was a prolific writer and tutor in the time that he was here (both quality and quantity).

Obviously he was one of those people who had a special something and he will be missed by a great many of us

Truly shocked to read about this in the Crier. Like so many others have said, a real gentleman, diplomatic, friendly and so very generous with his time and advice.

In addition to his responses on the forum, I've had numerous offline conversations with Dan and always found his responses very detailed and helpful - he will definitely be missed!

He is a natural born teacher - a person that can soak up knowledge and then impart it to others in a most understandable manner. He is gifted that way.
I agree with you there. He also had a way to make what he was interested in more interesting to others.

OMG! I've had many chats with Dan (primarily via Skype) and am SHOCKED to hear this news! Condolences to his remaining family (brother) on this loss on top of his mother just a short time ago.

This is an incredible loss to his family AND everyone at SitePoint.

I didn't know Dan myself, but it's obvious from all the reactions what a helpful and genuine person he was. Condolences to family and friends.

Dan and I had started a project together called seoallstars. I will do what I can to make sure the vision gets realized. Much like everything else he did, it was a totally selfless endeavor designed to inform and enlighten folks who go about SEO the wrong the way.

The who, what and why was mapped out and the related forum was thrown up the day before his illness.

I have not done much since the news broke really but I should be able to start facilitating its deployment pretty quickly. I need to catch up on a few client matters. There are also a few obvious logistical issues to address.

Not that his legacy requires any assistance, but it was very important to him. It strikes me as entirely fitting to make sure it gets done and lives forever via his methodology and ethos. It was actually part of our evil plan to rid DP of linkwheel providers and other dodgy SEO services lol...

What a shock. Dan helped so many people. In regards to the tribute, from the first post, maybe a shirt with the sitepoint logo with "Remember Dan". Just a thought, maybe find out from his family if he had any favorite charities and donate the proceeds in his memory.

Wow, this news has come as such a shock to me. Even the most unlikely people can be struck down when you least expect it.

I always respected Dan and what he said on these forums.

It's a real loss to see him go so soon.

My thoughts are with his family.
