We'll miss you, Dan Schulz.
Like everyone else, I am shocked and without words. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
Please be sure to update this post if there is any donation or event in his memory.

We will miss you Dan
RIP.
RIP Dan. Even though I don't post frequently here or on DP anymore, I'm a great lurker and always thought what a nice talented helpful guy Dan was. I always looked forward to reading his responses to posts.
He will definitely be missed. My thoughts and condolences to his family and all his friends.
Life is so short.
OMG, I just thought of the PMs I used to get from Dan.... They were always really long. Seriously, did anyone ever get a PM from him that was less than 200 words long? Over at the SEO.com forum, I think we raised the PM word limit just for him!![]()

This is very sad news. Dan was fantastic both in providing feedback on early Marketplace developments and in our move to Flippa.com

Wow.
Datura just told me in an e-mail. I am stunned.

April Photo-Challenge: "A Piece of Paper"

It's amazing how someone you've never met face to face becomes more than just a name. I've had many discussions with Dan over the years about nearly any topic worth discussing (and some not worth discussing). He was a person who Murphy repeatedly laid his law down upon, but he always got up from the challenge and appeared a better man for it. From his mother's struggles to his own run-ins with his health or his computers or whatever challenges happened upon him, he never gave up. His resolve and strength of will astounded me more than anything else about him.
RIP my friend - you will be missed![]()

Wow, I'm really shocked. I don't post much around here but when I was more active I always admired how helpful, kind and talented he was. It really made me sad to hear this news
RIP, Dan.

Very sad news. Many condolences to all of Dan's family and friends.![]()

This is the saddest tragedy. I cannot beleive this happened.
I met Dan almost 4 years ago right when I was starting to learning how to code. We used to stay up late on AIM and talk about EVERYTHING.( Football, CSS, HTML, Javascript, Life) He was truly a close friend to me on and off the forums.
I even helped him design his logo at one point and time on his website - http://www.dan-schulz.com/
He always gave me good advice about everything. Told me to always keep my chin up high and work hard at what I do.
Dan - was such a great web developer. Always eager to learn and acheive great things in life.
My condolences and prayers go out to his entire family.
You will certainly never be forgotten.
RIP Dan
I hope your looking down on me and including all of the forum members.
This is horrible!! I cannot explain.
Love Yah Dan!!

I rushed home as soon as Blake texted me that Dan died. I was literally in awe. He has always been sort of a .. idol to which I looked up to him, father figure if you would. We talked often when I first joined Sitepoint over a year ago, like Blake- web design in general, football, baseball, and how life was in general. He has become more then just an online friend, he's something I can't even describe. It just is amazing how much of an influence he had over everyone who knew him.
R.I.P. Dan I'll mention you next time I'm at church and ask for prayer for the family, especially the relatives since they must be taking this the hardest
I hope somewhere there is a computer in Heaven/the next place and you can see how much you meant to us.

Been about 30 minutes I read it, I still cannot believe this news. It's the first time someone I know (and care about, now I realize) online-only has passed away (so young!). Not much personal connections with Dan but I always had the feeling that he was a great guy. Rest in peace...

I will pray to God to give peace to Dan soul.

I first head about this from SpikeZ who said it best, "We are all gutted by this news."
Thanks to Molona for leaving this link on FaceBook and thanks to SitePoint for sharing this information with all of us members.
One of the most wondrous things about the Internet is also one of the most terrible. Because of it, we have the opportunity to meet terrifically talented people from all over the world, but often when we lose a friend there is no way of knowing why we lose touch with them.
Because of the miracle of the web, we all have enjoyed the opportunity to witness Dan's remarkable talents and can-do optimism. Although we'll all miss him, he leaves us a rich legacy.
Wherever you are now... if you can hear me... Thank you Dan Schulz. It was a real pleasure to know you. That torch of knowledge and spirit you so willingly carried has not been extinguished, but instead has launched into millions of stars that light the skies of cyberspace.

This is tragic news. Dan was a great member of Sitepoint and very helpful.
I was checking my tweets and saw the one from Sitepoint and my jaw dropped. I reread it like 5 times then dashed over here, hoping it wasn't true.
He will be missed.

I've had lots of good discussions with Dan over the last 5 years or so. A very genuine and helpful individual who went above and above and beyond what was required to assist anyone in need.
Dan taught me how to create columns without a <table>and then stuck around to coach me in these forums.
Of all Dan's achievements (which there are many) his selflessness and strong character shine the brightest. He was truly interested in community and will be dearly missed.

I don't believe the part of Dan that everybody here loved and valued has ceased to exist. Congratulations on a life well lived my friend.
I'm not much around here and even I know him. He was a great contributor and changed the life of many people with his advice.
My condolences to his family.
Really sad news.. RIP Dan. Our thoughts are also with your family.
I read it and I still cannot believe this news. Shocking news for me like everyone else. I really don't have any words what to say. He was my idol, The person i would like to follow....
I am stunned.
RIP DAN.
I think it says a lot (positively) about a forum that cares so much about its members. Glad to be a (new) member of the "family".![]()
