Dan Schulz RIP - We Will Miss You

I am shocked and speechless. It will take a while before I come to terms with the fact that he gone.

We spoke often, very often; about SitePoint, design, new projects, web, and WordPress markup that he was so determined to clean up. We would speak of his frail and sick mother who endured a year of intense agony before succumbing to death a few months back. And we would speak of his erratic computers that would conk out every other month. And he spoke to me only a two weeks ago asking he needed to interview me for SitePoint MOTM. I requested him to email me the questions. He never did.


Rest in peace my friend. You would be sorely missed. very very sorely.

He always made me smile with his hamster powered computers that were always breaking - but yet he still managed to always be here. He has left a huge hole and will be sorely missed.

I saw the news on SitePoint's twitter updates and it came so surprising and shocking.

Dan was one of the most talented and energetic members on these forums.

I'm finding it pretty difficult to read this thread again, but I just wanted to answer a quick question about if should we put together some sort of fundraiser for Dan's family. I know personally it's certainly something I'd contribute too, but I just want to have a chat with Dan's brother before we kick off anything.

Woah! That's terrible... I can't believe it; I knew he wasn't feeling great, but I never realised that it was so serious!

He has mentored and helped so many people, and has certainly left his mark on Sitepoint and many other communities. He will definitely be missed.

I haven't been here for a week or so, so I looked at the featured posts. When I saw the title of this thread I literally double-checked the date for April 1st!

This is just so sad. Like many others, I didn't know him personally. But he often commented in my threads and his advice was almost without fail spot on.

His knowledge, talent and personality will be sorely missed.

Shocking, I was just chatting with Dan a few weeks ago about his mother's passing. Dan was about a year older than me... far too young. Such sad news for his family...

I remember talking to Dan about Family Guy and his avatar was of course Stewie Griffin. Last night I saw an episode that reduced me to tears because of the final ending.

Its the one where Stewie walks away to the Hulk's 'Lonely Man' theme at the very end and its a fitting finale IMHO to Dan.

That is terrible terrible news. Dan was a good guy. We've exchanged some chatter about family guy as well. He had a good attitude on SP and was knowledgeable and had a teachers/mentoring heart.

This is sad news. Dan will be missed.

I haven't been around since spring but keep up with some of the SP folks on Facebook and I was stunned and saddened to hear the news of Dan's passing. Without a doubt, Dan left a legacy here and on many of the online communities. He will be sorely missed; my thoughts and prayers go out to his family who have had more than their share of sadness.

I like to believe that when we leave this earth, we have the ability or the gift to peek in on this world as we like. So Dan, I hope you're at peace and with those you love who have gone before you. You left a big void here; you'll always be remembered.
