Do you drive? Ride a bike? Take a train, tram, or streetcar?
How do you get around town? Me, I'm all about the train, but I ride my bike occasionally too.

Mainly via the tube or bus. In the summer, I'll also use a bike. I rarely use a car, mainly because it just doesn't make any sense in this monstrous city with perfect infra-structure.How do you get around town? Me, I'm all about the train, but I ride my bike occasionally too.

I mainly use the train... I am a few minutes walk from the local station which has direct links into the city which take 15 mins, no point me driving as I can get everywhere I need to go without all the costs of owning and maintaining a car... and in this climate it's a LOT cheaper![]()

I use the Train when I need to go up town otherwise I walk around the local area.

i was fortunate enough to live in the town so i never really needed to use public transport when i was living at home - going to the city i did use the bus but that was very rarely and when i did i always got motion sickness - so i gave that up - ive only been on a train twicegod when i think about it i wouldnt know the first thing about public transport these days
Ever since I was 17 ive been driving cars but now im a jeep owner and i love it so im always driving everywhere even long trips down the country i opt to drive - i enjoy itand when u live in a rural setting u definitely need to have your own wheels

I still don't have a car sadly. I used to ride my bike everywhere but I had an accident sometime ago and have been irrationally skeptical about riding in traffic since. I need to get over that fear though... if I ever hope to get my Honda Interceptor, that is.

thanks - pity the price wasnt as nice
what happened on ur bike?

I was too impatient crossing the street at night and got hit by a car. Luckily the lady wasn't driving too fast, though she seemed more paniced than I was.
My leg swole up for a couple days but nothing was broken. In about two weeks I was fine. Bruce lost a lamp, but he's alright too.
But I'm sort of once-bitten, five times as shy. Especially because the area I live now is full of trucks, buses and maxi taxis... rather than the muddy fields and cows of San Juan.

Nah, the accident was my fault.
We agreed to each pay our own bills (I dented her bonnet, and smashed her head-light and wind-screen) and call the whole thing off.

I walk. The wonders of living in a small town where you can go from one side of the town to another in under an hour on foot.
Used to use public transportation but very moderately and only for long distances or in urgent cases when living in the big (not that big on global scale) city.
Saul

On the island I walk or use our free trolley, for shopping off the island I need to use a big car to fit all the stuff in and the distance of course.
In the summer it is too hot to walk as well, so a car comes in handy. Biking is dangerous where I live (would love to), old people on meds and generally not all together.

Why? Just cause. Not a car guy and I needed a new car. Heated seats and mirrors are pretty much a necessity around here.

I walk, or take the bus or the underground. From time to time, I take a taxi but if it is a 30 min walk or so, I use my legs
The sad part is that... I am still fairly overweight even with all that exercise![]()

I have basically given up driving. I've taken my test six times, and I've failed every one. I live in a part of the country that has the WORST pass rate in the UK, which says more about the examiners, than the drivers.
The last time I failed for stupid reasons, and as a result of the stress, suffered blackouts, so I until I can cope with the stress, I am not sitting again
Managed to survive for 25 years using public transport & walking, so I'm not too fussed tbh.

Audi A4 2.0T I live in Phoenix, Arizona in the States, the public transportation system is still being built out so a car is a necessity. Plus it gets really hot in the summer +100 degree fahrenheit average so walking/biking isn't an option.

I'm one of those hateful people that drives an SUV.
Before you bag me... I chose the most environmentally friendly one I could.
I need one so that I can carry around all the stuff that comes with two babies.
I don't have my own vehicle. I take a bus or a jeep.

What's hateful about SUV's?Originally Posted by HAWK
