    Simply Rails 2 chptr 10 acts_as_taggable_on_steriods problem

    I'm having trouble with adding the acts_as_taggable_on_steriods in chapter 10. I tried to install per the book before I discovered the change in the errors on the webpage.
    I was able to rollback the migration, but I can't get acts_as_taggable_on_steroids to install from github. Due to the spam controls on this forum I apparently can't post website addresses. As such I've had to edit them out of the error messages below.

    I have git installed, but get the following:
    If I use the ruby script/plugin install command from the book corrections page
    I get the following:
    Initialized empty Git repository in .git/
    warning: Option "depth" is ignored for "github jviney" /acts_as_taggable_on_steriods.git
    fatal: Couldn't find remote ref HEAD

    If I change the 'http' to 'git' in the install command I get the following:
    Initialized empty Git repository in .git/
    fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly

    Think I found the solution. Came across this post in the Sitepoint forums using Google(Don't know why the forums search itself didn't find it)
    /forums/showthread.php?t=625817
    What you do is intsall Macports then run
    sudo port install git-core
    then install the plugin
    $ ruby script/plugin install git://github.com/jviney/acts_as_taggable_on_steroids.git
    From there you can go back to the book run the generate script and migration.
    Also, if you already created the migration following the book, as I did, you have to delete it (after rollback) before creating the new one or ruby will complain.
