Lunched mySQL database (HELP!!!)
I did a simple update ... it hung ... for a while ... so I aborted ...
When I came back in ... I can't dump, drop, select, update, or basically do anything to that table!!!
Our version of mySQL doesn't do Fix or Check table either ...
Any ideas???
The sys-admin is out of town until Wed ... while not mission critical, I'd like to fix this mofo!

Sounds to me like you ran an update statement that keeps running until a criteria is met, but it never gets met, so it never stops running... in which case... the database... table... is locked... and disallows... all access... to the table... from all other processess...

Ahhh ... I never thought of it like that ... how would I go about unlocking it?
As I said, our sys admin is out of town until Wed ... so restarting mySQL isn't in my bag of tricks

not sure. I couldn't even say for 100% sure that my guess is correct... it's just one theory.
Short of stopping and restarting the mysql service, I don't know what to tell you. He11, it may not even solve the problem.

If you've got phpMyAdmin installed, go to:
http://yourdomain.com/path/to/phpMyA...=1&mode=reload
That should reload mySQL for ya.
If you don't have phpMyAdmin installed, install it and do that ('tis pretty painless).

mySQL got restarted and it 'unlocked' the table.
Looks like my fingers may have jabbled too fast 'cause the value was up to 537,844,851 when I got back in. I guess my +50 statement didn't work as planned!
