My country now on Internet war

Currently my country, Malaysia, is on Internet speed connestion war. The company is offerring RM111 (note: RM4 = USD1) for unlimited Internet access at speed of downlaod 384k and upload 128k.

    refer: http://isp.tm.net.my/streamyx/newPromoPackages.shtml

Before this offer, I did my wireless installed with another company, which cost me RM90 for 64KB connection. Damn it!

If my exisitng company won't increase the speed, I will change it with the new one!

That's only $27.75 US dollars. Comparitively, 23E equals $21.86 US dollars. Not that much of a difference.

But, the speed is much slower in my country, and I actually don't know what my government doing. Here got so many political issue to be solved, such as one big company monopolies one industry, etc It is really a pity .

I would like to ask questions:

    1) what is the difference between the upload and download speed?
    2) Is it upload speed is for upload, and download is for downloading software and surfing?
    3) What is roaming service. I did check at the Whatis.com, and have the answer.

Well hardly 3 kbps here. Although upload speed may be higher (around 4-5 kbps). Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has a monopoly on the Internet connections. They control the pricing and discourage any major advancements in the technology. They discourage PC-2-Phone services. They discourage high speed Internet access. And that's not it. The government lowers the Internet charges every year and this benefit is not passed on to the customers. Either at the ISP level or at the Telecommunication company -- these funds are absorbed.

And yes we have to pay like 40 cents per hour.

Roaming service means that if you bought your account in city A. You can use your account not only in city A but also in City B and City C (wherever your ISP offers Internet access).
