How can I check my REAL Internet connection speed?
I can left-hand click the 2-little computer at the task bar, and it says that my speed is 11mb, and it is not.
How can I check the real one, or any application can let me do so?
Thanks in advance.

I think there is a download speed clocker at cnet.com, but I'm not sure how reliable it is...

http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ for example

Thanks, and I tested it at tp://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ and the result is a bit more than 60K.

here is the one at cnet.com...it said my connection is 98kbps while the one at bandwidthplace.com said 118.7kbps. i don't know how reliable either service really is.

what is my area code? I am from Malaysia.

The country code for Malaysia is 60 or +60.

The second is only 54 Kbps![]()

I don´t rely on such "speed-meters", cause: what can i do when i know i have max. connection speed of xx kb/s....
What really matters is: 1.) What connection/download-speeds do you get on average (i had DU-Meter running and i´m online 24/7, so i let the logs run up one month, then took all daily stats and divided it through (number of days)*24 and there was the average....
2.) It doesn´t matter what´s your topspeed...besides it really varies a lot due to: different protocols, different speed of the server you´re on, distance to the server (= number of nodes in between can vary a lot....)
And so on.....
