What a game indeed! What a match! I am also sorry for the Italians, but I am delighted for the Koreans.

Right now millions of people are flodding the streets in Korea to party. Great for them!

This should be a lesson for the Italians that they have to give up with their defensive style once for all because they are almost the only ones left playing defensively in the world. The European Cups were not enough for them to learn that catenaccio is not the way to go nowadays.

I wonder what Berlusconi will have to say to Trap. Since Zoff resigned in 2000 because of Berlusconi. Probably he'll be sacked or he'll resign before Berlusconi will have to say anything about him.

Who knew Korea would win. I as a Korean can hardly believe it.
I mean.. Korean has won Portugal which was completely unexpected and then they even won Italy.

People are screaming with joy around my apartment.

P.S ah and.. some people are crying... (with joy of course)

Spain next, then either Germany or US if I'm not mistaken?

All three are possible if Italy has been beaten...

That wouldn't be a surpise! I seriously think England are going to beat Brazil in a high-scoring match.

    Hmm...

Hehe, indeed a nice game. Besides i donīt understand why italy kept picking on the ref after the game, he whistled FOR Italy and not against them almost all the time...

Woohoo South Korea !!! (If they would have scored on the first penalty they would have won that game in regulation..../me looks over to the Irish folks, hmmm, did you train shooting penalties with the S.Korean players ? ).

What a great game indeed! One funny thing that the announcer said was:

"Well, it looks like the ref isn't going to have any friends in Italy anymore". -- After the ref gave Del Piero of Italy a yellow card followed by a red card.

Since 'we' (the Dutch) weren't in the World Cup to start with, I decided I would be for South Korea. You know, it's 'our' Guus Hiddink who made that team into what it is now!

    So go South Korea!

Go Korea!! They've improved DRASTICALLY since the last cup...woke up just in time to see the header goal in Sudden Death.

And in the stands, saw a poster in Korean..."Hiddink for President!"

The red card is well deserved, and IMHO yellow cards should be given EVERYTIME a player simulates a fault in the 18 meters.
Oh, and we know the Italian team is famous for not standing right on their legs and falling at the most little touch

It was a simple trip with contact after the tackle. No dive. No attempt to get a penalty. There was plenty of contact to trip a running player. No card. No foul. One of the worst calls of the tournament from a ref who was 35 yards away.

The linesman did not signal the foul and he was right on top of the play.

Look again... I'm sure the Korean 'got' the ball in that tackle and it was actually a good challenge but the Italian made to much of it. International defenders have had to appreciate that any dangerous tackle in the box will get a yellow or red for quite a while so maybe it's the attackers turn to realise they can't get away with their mistakes either.

Anyway, a great football match. Italy have such a good record in the World Cup that the disappointment is understandable and Korea have achieved so much more than expected that their celebrations are deserved.

What would football be without referees?

I thought it was a pretty good game...

Though I agree with a few of my friends when they say the games was South Korea and the referee vs. Italy

Not that I'm complaining, I was going for Korea anyway I always go for the underdog

The way I see it, it was a dive. Totti didn't wait for the guy to make contact, he was already on the way down. From thge angle I saw it on the highlights last night, there is no doubt at all that Totti dived.
Anyway, more importantly, I am absolutely delighted for Korea - to have taken out Portugal and Italy is astonishing and wonderful. And I take my hat off to probably the best and loudest bunch of fans ever. Heart-warming.
