    alternative to unsupported min-width property?

I found out that the min-width property is not currently supported very well (reference: DevGuru). What alternative work-arounds could I use?

For example, I want my site to have a minimum width of 800 pixels, so anyone who has a browser window below that size will have to scroll. However, if the user has a window set at 1024 pixels, I want the site to stretch the full width of the window. I know I could insert a 1x800 image, but that seems like a pretty bad hack. Any other suggestions?

On the contrary, the insertion of an image is probably the best hack, since it will work even on browsers where the CSS does not. I usually use a 1x1 transparent GIF and stretch it to the desired size.

If you are determined to not do that, you could try placing a DIV inside the BODY with a width of 800px.
