    Network Discovery

    Hi,

I am currently in the process of building a customized Asset Management site for the IT department at my present workplace. Currently we use Numera Track-It! and it is awful.

One thing that Numera Track-It! does have though is client software installed on the machines to provide the server with stats about the hardware (OS, RAM, CPU, IP, MAC, etc.)

Now I know that providing OS/CPU/RAM may be out of the question (not a big deal), but I was wondering if it is possible to have PHP scan a network subnet for devices and show the IP/MAC/Hostname of the computers?

    Hello,

if you are running PHP on Unix based system it should be possible for sure. You need to use shell with php.

It is still in development and I'm developing it on a windows server with apache.

Although when it gets put into production I can certainly put it on a Unix based server (more specifically I have a ubuntu 8.04 server).

Thanks, I will take a look into that.
