Suggestions - Client Area on our site

Hi,

We are web development company and recently the projects being handled by us have increased to almost double. We would now like to have a Customer/Client Area on the site, where are clients can login, check the progress on their site, report errors/features/wish for more - Ask for quotes for additions or new projects and so on...

I would be glad if people around here can share their experiences to tell me more on what other elements would be good thing to have in there.

I would say to start off with those basics. Let your clients suggest things to you, and implement them as they're suggested. No one knows your site better than your clients (and you!).

Put together a survey and ask those you want to service better what would help them. If they don't link a client section would be helpful, find a project management program for you to use that will. Inform them where their projects are instead of waiting for them to ask.

Ive seen some scripts over at www.hotscripts.com that do that type of thing (or at least do something similar that you could build on)- was looking to do something similar myself, I think its a great idea btw.

It could be merged with a trouble ticket system and billing area to track costs etc - all kinds of good stuff.
