I'm about to begin development on a project that I would like to utilize web services. I've never created an application in a service-oriented architecture before. I've been trying to find some good resources to learn from but there is so much out there is hard to decide what is write for me.

Some information:
  • I plan on using c#/.net to create the services
  • I'm going to begin by creating a prototype but I want the services to have a very strong foundation so that they can be scaled to a very large scale.

I've found this book series and it seems to be highly recommended:
http://www.soabooks.com

The problem is that there are so many books to choose from and I'm not sure exactly where to begin. I'm looking for something that will help me get my feet wet in soa and provide me with a strong foundation to expand upon.

Looking at the main books in the series it seems like one of these would be the best choices for me:
  1. Service-Oriented Architecture: A Field Guide to Integrating XML and Web Services
  2. Service-Oriented Architecture: Concepts, Technology & Design
  3. SOA Principles of Service Design

Any suggestions?
