    Any suggestions or hints? Anyone?

I develop on a Windows machine, so I may not be the one to talk to, but...

From what I understand, Mac comes with Ruby already installed. I am guessing that 1.8.2 was already installed, and you may have installed 1.8.6 yourself. If that is the case, is 1.8.6 updated in the path as well?

    Just a guess.

    Thank you phillipus rex.
I've had a look at my $PATH and found that both /usr/bin AND /usr/local/bin are stored in there. I installed the new version in /usr/local/ so i just had to rename the ruby executable in /usr/bin and i was ready to go.
