    Hi

were you using Time Machine? You can just restore from there.

Otherwise, some of the other apps you can just download again - VLC and Acro reader (although why you would want to use that when Preview does a fine job and faster, i don't know).

As for iLife and iWork, you're going to need your installation disks.

I'd suggest you contact Apple. With proof of purchase of your computer, they can send you a replacement system DVD, which you can use to restore everything.

Sounds like you really need to restore from an OS X disk.
You should go to an apple reseller in your area and see if they can loan a disc to you in store, if you don't want to buy a new one.

Yes. You'll want to restore the entire system. If you've lost so many applications, then you should restore everything so that you're sure that everything will work OK. Right now, you probably can't be sure exactly which apps and dependent files have been removed.

To be honest, I don't understand how you lost so many apps, and your time machine backup. Would you care to share your secret? :-)
