    Currently using bluehost.

Wondering how much and which provider I should go with for a very secure and fast server. A friend of mine pays 1800 a year.

Depends on the server and what you mean under security
Could you please explain a bit?

The budget you have given here is 150 $/month. Actually it really depends on the site/sites you need to host in that server. And the server specs you require. If your site/application is not that resource intensive a medium dedicated server will be fast for you IMO. If you can explain your requirements in detail somebody can suggest you the required budget specifically.

Do you actually need a whole server? Probably not, if you're using bluehost right now.

$150/month isn't a lot at all, if we're talking about a fully managed server, which is probably what you need if you're not a server admin, and you don't have a friend who's able and willing to manage the server for you.

    Thumbs up

Well, even if you have a number of high traffic blogs, I don't think you would need a whole dedicated server. Hence, you can either choose a VPS or a shared hosting package to host your blogs.

So you are considering bluehost for that? Or you are migrating from their service?

1800/year is about the price of an average dedicated server

Umm.I am wondering something more on your requirement so that we can suggest better.
    The quota: none.
The budget: it is your friend's.
    Specific needs: none.
The kind of your site: none.
    Any details would be nice.

I'm a BlueHost user, personally don't have any problems with them... CPU limits are a bit low though.

HostMonster is the same thing as BlueHost - only the branding is different.
