Question Best Place to Resell Domains

Im looking to integrate a domain selling api into a few web apps, i was amazed to see this actually "cost" money. It actually cost money to sell domains for godaddy. That makes no sense of course, but hey its godaddy.

Anyway, i was looking for an api to query available domain names and then refer them to a registrar and possible make a % of profit.

Anyone have any luck with this? Should i pony up the $250 for a godaddy annual reseller account? I've seen similar products like wildwestdomains.com they still charge $99 ?

WWD is actually GD. But you can find a WWD reseller that's cheaper than WWD itself.

I don't mean re-sell, but be a reseller, an affiliate.

I've bought a few good domains from sedo before

I think it's not possible to get an API for free anywhere. Domains are usually resold under your own brand, otherwise you might try various affiliate programs of hosts but they usually sell hosting plans with domains as an add-on or you go to an affiliate marketplace such as CJ.

Good to know. But do you get competitive prices without upfront payment?
And they make the usual difference between reseller and affiliate. So which way do you want to go?

For End user sales the best site is Sedo.

On forums you will only find resellers, i only sell to resellers if i need to get a rid of a name quickly as the price will be a lot lower.

For the people which are getting started that might appear a bit expensive in fees

MarcoRinaudo what you do is might be interpreted as self promotion which is not allowed in the places like this one

I would not call it self promotion, I am answering to the user in a context in which my information is coherent and I would say pretty valuable, incidentally it is related to my own business and it is fully disclosed as you can see from my signature.

Do you see something wrong on my answer? Is not something potentially beneficial to the user? Have you checked my other answers in the forum? I am always pertinent and only providing requested advice and once again if my answer is incidentally promoting my business as well in a fair way, I do not see any issue with it.

    Am I wrong?

    Arrow

    yes and thanks for asking.

We have created a module for WHMCS that we distribute for free to our customers and perspective customers. Simply send an email to api-assistance@internet.bs to get the latest version.

PS: we have also created free plugins for ClientExec, AWBS and PleskBilling (ModernBill), just ask if you need one of them.

if you're after good money then contact end users directly.

    Sedo produces good results lately.

GD and afternic ae longer term but you can get some good money sometimes

You'll get less money but if you're after a quick sell check out namepros and dnjournal

NetEarthOne, ResellerClub and eNom are popular choices for reselling domains. They ask for a usable deposit, unlike GoDaddy.

    MarcoRinaudo,

At first blush, I had the same thought as SiberForum. However, as you did respond to a question (which was not adequately answered prior to your reply), you were correct in posting as you did.

SF was being helpful to all by responding to the perception of a violation of SitePoint guidelines (FAQ - please don't forget the Report Post triangle under the poster's name).

Best of all, there was no animosity and the issue was correctly resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

    Thank you to both!

    Regards,

    DK

Godaddy has a reseller program called wild wild west or something like that .... If that's what you're looking for you can buy domains for $6 I believe and resell it for as much as you like.

The main issue is the ammount of the prepayment
I suppose diffrent resellers have diffrent amounts which you need to pay beforehand

if you want to earn on domains in the long run, i think diamond level will be best and as far as i am concerned, the prepayment can be adjusted, but the lowest price you can get, i'm sure.
