Overture Re design

Overture.com has yet again changed its site. I am not sure if its good news becuase it is focusing more on getting advertisers than offering search results.

Most of them (search engine) are going into flash-based advertising.

I am not sure why? After all not everyone has flash and it is one of the web design rules that i use not to force people to download something to view the site.

i think their redesign was good. it reflects the change in their business model well. most of the searches that are fuel their revenue are from partner sites therefore the overture.com space does not need to e text based directory style any more it is most appropriate to try and sell businesses on the idea of advertsing through them and i think the new site does that really well and the flash compliments that. it has a real sales strategy feel.

and anyway every two bit smart-serach powered ppc ripped overture's old site so much it was pathetic.

The fact of the matter is Overture provides an advertising service via search results and not a search service, so this is probably a more honest and targetted presentation.
