How far to go with PHP learning?

    Hi Guys

I have a domain which doesn't have any site yet. I plan to have sub-domains there some of which would be accessible via a username and password. I don't know any PHP yet, I prefer gui based work. So for creating my password-accessible sub-domains, will I need to learn a language like PHP or similar? And if so, how much to learn, full coding or just skim the surface? And finally, is it possible to totally manage without knowing any coding (like PHP) and if so, what programs are out there which help manage sites without a need for coding?
In short, I want to be an administrator and still not know coding. Is it possible?

Hope I am clear on what I am saying.
    Thanks in advance guys.

You can password protect sites without any programming. Use apache's authorization module. Do a search for "password htaccess".
