Hi 4877, welcome to the forums,
The "$" is the command line prompt for Mac consoles, and is not part of what you need to enter. For Windows the command line prompt is ">"
So if you are using Windows, it would look something like:
.....> rails shovell
worked good thanks but later my machine asked me if i should turn on intranet settings saying it was less secure but I did anyway, should I have ?

Is your computer connected to other computers? That is, are you on an intranet? Maybe you have 2 servers, a native Windows one and now the Rails one?
If it is only your computer I wouldn't worry about it too much. But if this is at work or a "family system" you may want to look into it more. My guess is that this setting is needed so Windows can access the Rails server, but is worried that Rails may try to access the Windows file system maliciously. But again, if it's only you, you hopefully can trust yourself![]()
