    Look in your theme's files for a "tag.php" file. You should see something similar to
    PHP Code:
    .....
    <?php while ( have_posts() ) : the_post() ?>
    .....
                    <div class="entry-content">
    <?php the_excerpt(__'Read More <span class="meta-nav">&raquo;</span>''sandbox' )) ?>
                    </div>
    .....

    If your theme doesn't have a "tag.php" file, then it's likely that it uses an "archive.php" file for Category, Archives, and Tags.

    Does it currently show the entire contents of each post?
    Are you using the <!--more--> tag?
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/the_excerpt

    The file may have
    PHP Code:
    .....
        <div class="entry">
            <?php the_content() ?>
        </div>
    .....
    instead of the_excerpt()

    Yes, if you add an excerpt_length filter to the theme's functions.php file the excerpts can be whatever length you decide on.

    You could also change the excerpt more string by adding an excerpt_more filter to the same file.
