Great, I never used any of those funky meet-online-people sites and now I can see how much nasty marketing and advertising I'm missing out on! Some of us aren't online to buy pills to get bigger or get that ch33p 0nline dipl0m4 or quick weightloss drugs.

Thanks for the info, spammers! You've just announced where you all are!

    ♥ you guys.

Casual is good. But why all the marketing hype on facebook? it must've been intentionally developed to go that way.. .

You are right.. there are so many people using linkedin & facebook. From this sites are mostly for making friends & reading information... They can give traffic to your site but for that you have to follow their steps...

    I hate facebook....lol.

But, i am swallowing my hatred because of the potential traffic it can bring.

Linkedin is great for business contacts. We have received 4 large contracts because of knowing who to call from the information on Linkedin.

It takes a long time to get potential traffic towards your site when using facebook, it's more of fun. All you have to do is to make and built community and convert them to be your potential visitor of site and be potential clients as well.

I use both these sites for driving web traffic for my website and I find both of them really good. On LinkedIn, you can start join different groups, start discussions from your end and promote your articles & blogs, products./services through status updates etc. All good professionals are available on LinkedIn so you can get your business query resolved very soon in a professional way.

On Facebook, you can add friends and people from all parts of globe in your network and promote your business. So, both these sites are good and can prove to be beneficial if used intelligently.

It never occurred to me that LinkedIn could be used to create web site traffic. I've used it for years now to expand my business network because that's it's stated purpose. I've found people I worked with 30 years ago through LinkedIn. I've found people I went to high school with 40 years ago through Facebook.

Why don't you provide some (verbal) explanation of how you use each to create web site traffic? I'd be very interested in seeing that.

As others said, I don't think they are fair comparison. In any case, I like LinkedIn. At one time Ebay HR contacted me through LinkedIn....though I didn't get the job, I appreciated the opportunity.

Am I on Mars??? Some say you can't get website traffic from Linkedin. Some are saying they use Facebook for fun??? Geez folks.

The secret to Linkedin is not the connections you make, but the GROUPS you join. Here...I wrote a blog post about how a couple of hours while watching a basketball game on t.v. got me some sales: http://www.websitewaves.com/getting-...-linkedin.html

Facebook is all about participation. Whatever gets posted on someone's "wall" gets seen by everyone in their following. Plus, add "pages" to your Facebook account and you will begin to attract followers to those pages for targeted potential leads.

Simple as that. Two completely different uses.
