    Any problems with HostGator?

Just want to know if any of you guys who are on hostgator on a shared hosting are having problems with it lately. I swear it loads so slow since yesterday.

Just checked a site I have hosted at HostGator and it's running pretty fast. Could be the server you're on.

Shared reseller? I've noticed no problems. Email them, see if they are having some with a server or two.

Yep already did that on the day my site was taking time outs due to server responding too long. In fact, I emailed and did a live chat as well as an Open Ticket. hehe.. . couldn't help it. I got impatient although they did respond pretty fast and got the issue resolved within an hour or so.

But imagine an hour on a live site that's taking time outs! Anyone would freak out on that one.

I've been hosting on a shared account for 4 years and have had no problems with server issues or speed.

Maybe there's a problem with your computer. If I were you, contact the support service of hostgator. Since, I never encounter any problem using it.

I believe that is because of your ISP and your connection speed. Would you mind showing the link?

I don't think so. All the other websites I have loaded in multiple tabs that time loaded fairly fast, or normally, according to what I'm used to, so I would know something was really up with my hosting server.

The admin did say the Apache server for that machine was handling an unusually high volume of http requests, and slowing down everything. I wonder how many requests would that be? Well that's what he said. And I don't care, it got fixed already.

If they have responded fast and fixed the issue quite quickly I will say that is the sign of a quality host. Any way I can understand your frustration when your site is loading slow.

Issues can come up with any host, especially when it comes to shared hosting. One site's high usage can affect all other customers' hosting experience. Good to hear they did what ever was necessary to correct the situation.

So, are they really that good ? I'm looking for a new hosting service since the one I'm using right now (awardspace) is terrible.

I mean, do some of you who use this service actually monitor your web site uptime ?

I do, and have done in the past too. I'd say you can quite safely expect 99.9%+ yearly uptime from HG, unless you end up on some jinxed server.

And while we are on the subject, stay away from awardspace - they suck.

I use HostGator on a couple of not very important wordpress blogs... for reasons I won't get into. And yeah there are times of the day it is very aggravating to work on those blogs.

HostGator is very middle of the road. I don't use them for anything that I consider important.

Interesting. Most people seem to be happy with HG. What hosting would you recommend than ?

I have a shared account over, yesterday all sites on that shred account where down for a little bit. Tech support said they had a kernal panic. But they have a few thousand servers, so the chances that i was on the same one as you are slim.

We use them for one reseller account and one dedicated server, and it's Hostgator has been great. We've had no significant problems, but when we need something, they have always been there. We are very happy with HG.

FYI - you will have problems from time to time, especially with shared or reseller hosting. Every so often a script will break, a process will go crazy, or some account will get compromised, causing resources to get swallowed up. You have to find the issue and fix it. Happens to everyone.

Sometime it happens due to ISP. Personally I don't have account with HostGator but same problem I have faced with other hosting provider as well.
