What is your favourite colour and why?

I would argue that black is not a colour. In fact, I would argue that all shades of grey, including black and white, are not colours, because they have no colour information.

Black, itself is actually a lack of any color, while white is a combination of all colors. My favorite color is purple because it is the color of royalty. : puffs out chest and walks with head high :

Now, black for me is a color. If blue is a color, I don't see why black shouldn't be.

My favourite is purple because it has the shortest wavelength of all the visible colours

I'm not the expert on light physics, but doesn't the shortest wavelength mean that it carries the most energy?

I like blue. It's litterally a cool colour. Watch the flames of a campfire or candle and the blues emminate from the cooler parts of the flames, whereas the business end of the flames are white hot with maximum energy. The blues are more laid back and mello. Blue is a relaxing colour, as opposed to say, red. Hot colours pack lots of energy. Seeing red conjures wild emotion, anger or passion. Whereas, blue is soothing and calming. Blue ink on white paper is easiest to read, causing less eye fatique. Blue coloured pens have become the most popular choice.

But what is colour? Is it not just reflected light. Indeed, that blue object you see, is every colour but blue. You see not the colour it is, but the colour it isn't. It absorbs all colour frequencies and rejects/reflects the blue spectrum. Fact is, at night when there is no light to reflect, anything that doesn't produce direct light, a flame for example, has no colour at all. It's only a shade of gray or black. The absence of colour.
Scuba divers know that bright red fish at the surface of the ocean, loose their apparent colour the deeper they dive, showing only their true shade of gray and are perfectly camouflaged in a gray surrounding. The red frequency of the light spectrum is filtered by the water. At 30 feet down, light does not reach the fish to get reflected. Alas, the pretty red fish, wasn't red after all.

i'd say that this is correct indeed, but in the common way of talking a lot of people have black or white as their favourite... that's why i includede them.

Hmmm.. I consider myself a Moderate Republican Tree Hugger and don't understand why pink comes into it...

My favorite colors is blue because no other color is good enough.
