    Server side only?

Do you mean server side only?

Otherwise you could count XML/XSL and IE5+ support for Data Binding

    Server side:
    Access, FoxPro(???),FileMaker(???)

no... ASP and ColdFusion are server-side scripting languages... which are way different from databases...

some databases which support remote connectivity (most do in fact) are MySQL, PostgreSQL, FoxPro, Sybase, Oracle, mSQL, SQL Server, Interbase, Ingres, the list goes on...

Free databases I've seen used on websites: Postgres, Interbase (for now)

Plus a bunch of java-based databases I've seen used on JSP sites, specifically HSQL (Hypersonic) and InstantDB. I don't believe these support any native stored procedures though.

As mentioned before, XML. Free, open, decent community support.

What are you wanting to do?

MS JET (which is what Access uses) is free...You just need a tool to create one (the most popular is Access), but I guess you could do this all through scripting. Maybe there are other tools out there to edit MS JET databases too.

I actually am doing a project on database systems. I'm just collecting data on what types, etc. I'm going to use MySQL to show how database works though.
