Here are some questions I'd ask:

How many are working in Magneto? Is the team distributed or everyone is in one office? and What methodologies and tools do you use to develop Magneto?

Slightly off topic but I'd love to know why they chose Expressionengine as the CMS to run their main site.

Zen Cart and osCommerce dominated the Open Source Shopping Cart market for many years. What made Roy decide it was time for another major player in that marketspace?

Is Magento intended to run on Linux only? Performance issues have prevented me from being able to use a Windows development machine.

What innovative new functionality are they planning on adding to the future to keep ahead of the competition and what does he see in the future for ecommerce in terms of new ways in which the whole industry will change?

Magento has a poor reputation based on performance. In fact, it is so poor, it has kept me from even trying it. Magento must be aware of this reputation, and I'd like to know if there are any plans to significantly improve performance.

As a developer, I can't spend hours and hours working on a clients site, just to have it perform poorly, and have them upset at me. They would blame me! So when Magento improves performance, then I can say it is worth a try. It needs to work well, even on a shared hosting plan.

Meganto, in its current form, is trying be all things to all people. Its feature set overwhelm one-man shops. So are you planning to introcude a stirpped down version for the small guys who need no more than the simplest of shop. In other words, is the introduction of a 'MegantoLight' worth your while?

I’d like to hear Roy’s thoughts on why ecommerce frameworks in general have a reputation for messy code, tangled logic, and inscrutable documentation. Is there something special about ecommerce that makes it a particularly difficult set of problems to solve in an elegant way? As a follow up, what attracted him to working on those problems?
