Change form name tag to id card and JS still works

Hi I am having trougle validating my page as XHTML strict due to the peresence of a form with name tag. I am using JS for the validation. How can i change the JS code to still work if I replace the form's name tag with an id tag? Thanks

<form id="get_started" action="formtoemail.php" ...
