    Strange Tab Behavior in NS6.2 with CSS

    Have a look at the web page located at:

    http://www.rpgme.com/accounts/Account.html

    In IE6.0 you can click in the first text input, and then tab around to the others. But in NS6.2, you can't. Anyway to fix that? All the styles in question are in the page so just do a right click to view them.

    Please ignore the functionality on the page. ATM, the Javascript is in an incomplete state.

    I really appreciate your suggestions regarding the CSS and tabbing!

    I can, which sort of makes this a moot question for me.

    Really? That makes no since, because I can't. Not that it makes much difference but I've only tested it on Windows2000 and NS6.2.3, but I certainly can't tab between all the fields.

    If I click in the first field, then click tab, I go to the checkbox under shipping address, then tab again and I go to the location bar.

    *scratch*

    Are you sure you arent referring to NN6.1? Because I tested the page in that and, its having some issues. Cant tab between the inputs. Some of your inputs dont even fit in the nice box you made for them either.

    I used Mozilla 1.0.0, which usually gives me the same results as Netscape 6. Maybe there's as issue with the specific Netscape code that's causing problems.

    In Netscape 6.2.3, the style definition that is breaking tabbing is below:

    Code:
    div.row {
      clear: both;
      padding-top: 10px;
    }

    div.row span.label {
      font-size: 10px;
      font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif;
      font-weight: bold;
      color: #666;
      float: left;
      width: 120px;
      text-align: right;
    }

    div.row span.formw {
      float: right;
      width: 275px;
      text-align: left;
    }
    Does anyone see anything strange about this CSS such that it would break tabbing in NS6.2.3? At first I thought it might be the style I'm using on the text inputs, but I created a test page that wasn't using the 'row' class defined above and tabbed just fine. Those on the page that were using 'row' wouldn't tab at all.

    Odd, eh?

    If I do something like this:

    Code:
    <span class="formw"><input name="i1" type="text" class="formInput" tabindex="5"></span>
    The input is still in the tabindex. But if I do this:

    Code:
    <div class="row">
      <span class="formw"><input name="i1" type="text" class="formInput" tabindex="5"></span>
    </div>
    The input falls out of the tabindex.

    OR, if I remove float: right; from the formw class like so:

    Code:
    div.row span.formw {
      /* float: right; */
      width: 275px;
      text-align: left;
      }
    Then it all works happily, keeping the inputs in the tabindex. It's all very strange, and none of the fixs that I've discovered still allow me to use the design as intended.

    I sure could use some professional help. Anyone?

    Netscape 7 works fine. Maybe something is messing with N6x natural tab order. Try and "force" the tab order and see if it helps.

    Example: http://www.webaim.org/tutorials/examples/taborder.php

    Doh, I shouldv'e looked at the source closer. My NN4x does it the way you describe, jumps around. Mozilla 1.0, Netscape 7.0, and Opera work fine. It may be a Netscape-CSS-tab bug.
