custom tables in movable type

I need to find a cms, loosely or not, that will allow me to add custom tables and fields. Can this be accomplished using MT with relative ease? What about wordpress? This seems to be the biggest drawback on using what is out there.

I see MT requires Perl.

I'll skip MT for now and extend the question of custom tables to TextPattern and Wordpress.
