    Character codes for tweets

    Hi - at
    http://tools.sitepoint.com/codeburner/firefox/

there's a "Tweet This" button with this link:
    http://twitter.com/home?status=Downl...2Ftr.im%2FtBjZ

    This is the tweet:
Downloaded CodeBurner for Firefox from @sitepointdotcom and scored a
free PDF - What a killer deal! Grab yours now http://tr.im/tBjZ

This is how it instantly shows up on codeburner page (with my twitter
    photo):

    valarcher[http://twitter.com/valarcher]: Downloaded CodeBurner for
Firefox from @sitepointdotcom and scored a free PDF - What a killer
    deal! Grab yours now link[http://tr.im/tBjZ]

where "http://tr.im/tBjZ" is the link to that codeburner page.

I'm guessing "%3A=:", and "%2F=/"? Is there a URL that lists all these character codes for when I want to give my site visitors a tweet?

Are these same codes used in mailto with xhtml transitional 1.0?

    e.g.
    <a href="mailto:enter_emails_of_friends_here?subject=etc">

Must "_", "?" and "=" all be changed into a character code?

    thanks, Val

do you mean url encoded characters? Some info here

I think only ambiguous or dangerous characters need to be encoded this way
