    Easy to use version control?

    Hello,

I have been working on websites for a very long time now. Just now I have realized how much time I waste each day on backing up all files that I am modifying.

As I understand, there is a very efficient way of going about this - with version control. However, I am very new to this idea, and am unsure how to implement for use with my current web projects. And to add to the list of confusion, I am also on a Mac.

I need a solution that will help me keep version history of my project files. Kevin Yank recently wrote about GIT, but I am very confused if this is the right solution for me. It seems to have a lot of console commands, and not a lot of GUI, which scares me off.

I would also love to know if there is a good and proper way of testing projects on a Mac, before uploading them to a live site.

    Thanks for your input!

Funnily enough I just posted an article here ( sitepoint.com/article/1749 ) which introduces Git via the GUI
