I have about 100 pages in my site, and I really want META tags. I didn't add them while I was creating the pages because it is too time consuming.

Is there any program that would let me insert META tags inside the already created pages?

If my only choice is to open up my editor and manually enter the tags, I won't do it. I really want to because META tags help.

    So...what do I do?

A techie at my work made a program a while back he named it magic wnad. You can basically apply a rule and it will do it for all the pages you want.

Don't know how to use it, but I am willing to bet there are programs out there. Try www.download.com.

Also you're not going to use meta tags if you have to do it manually. It dosen't take that long to cut and paste !!

Its gotta be worth a half day of your time as they will make a lot of fifference...

At the rate my site is gowing, it would be very hard to keep up with all the META tags.

I have checked download.com and tucows.com and came up with nothing. I'll try again soon.

Let me know if any of you know of such a program, it would really help. Thanks!

Most HTML-editors can add META-tags in a page, you only have fill in the keywords and names and stuff. But since you've already created your pages that would be a lot of trouble. There are some free services on internet who add Meta-tags to you pages when they stand on the server. I thought that I saw some on the freebies section of sitepoint. Else you'll have to search for it.

Check out Metabot Pro from Watchfire aka Tetranet Software. This program will allow you to add metatags to your existing pages on a site wide basis.

They have a 30 day trial available.

Thanks Wayne! Downloading it now. The screenshot and tour looked really good so I bet the program will help a lot.

I'll keep everyone posted on how things turn out. Thanks again!

I played with that program, and it is amazing, but it doesn't let you apply settings unless you buy it. Ugh!

I searched for some free ones at Download.com, but none of them do what I want it to do (instead they create the meta tags for you to paste).

There has got to be some way to do it!

Last time I used it, it would apply the strings.

You can check out Tag Gen Its available as a standalone product or as a plug-in for HTML editors like Frontpage and Homesite.

If that doesn't work for you check out the selection of tools listed at Win Files. Look in the Web Promotion and Web Miscellaneous.
