Question tables keep showing white background

I feel a little silly about posting this, but I'm trying to help someone I met online style their article site. The site uses tables for layout, which I'm not used to, and I want to make their backgrounds transparent so the background images are visible, but no matter what I do some of them still show up with white backgrounds.

I've taken all references to background-color out of the css and can't find anything inline in any of the template files that would keep them white either.

Again, this isn't my site.

Hi,

Welcome to Sitepoint

The background color of the table has been hard coded into the deprecated bgcolor attribute of the table.

e.g.

Code:
<table border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" width="100%" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"
Either remove those attributes from the tables or override them with some css like this:

Code:
table,td {background-color:transparent!important}
