    Most popular list of opensource applications

    I wanted everyone to list down the most *famous* opensource applications for each category. It can be in any programming language.. It can be free or commercial application, but should be open source. By famous I mean, just famous and NOT your most favorite or most advanced

    General CMS that allows ease of graphic design (no template restrictions) and ajax features... For me it's a better fit for most of my corporate clients compared to Joomla (membership) or Drupal (advanced)

    It's written in a language you can view in plaintext editors, and you download the package... granted it's not "free" open source, but it is still an open source package.

    I dont think we can call it open source. Yes, we can modify and use it in any manner we want, but we can not reproduce and/or redistribute it..

    that`s not right .. open source it`s a script where you have full access without paying anything you can manage and modify it as you want ..

    Actually you are wrong, not all open source products are free, while the majority are there is absolutely nothing which stipulates in the definition of open source licensing that products cannot be charged for. Open source is about more than just being able to be passed around, you should research the subject better.
