.png images not showing in IE
I have been using .png images for some while now and had no problem but suddenly a client said that the images I said were on the site he couldn't see. I was using FF and all was there. He then sent me a screenshot and he was using IE8 and the images just showed a box with an X in top left corner.
The moment I changed them to .jpg they displayed fine. What I find confusing is that all the other images are .png and he can see them but suddenly these didn't display.
On another site I did I found that background .png images didn't display but when changed to .gif they did.
From what I can make out this is a browser problem but does anyone know any more or what can be done to remove the hassle?

Thanks for that link guido2004 but it doesn't actually help. I am using IE8 and not IE6 which is what he is dealing with primarily. I'm also not specifically dealing with the transparancy problems.
Possibly I'm missing something though.
My problem is that they sometimes display and other times not in IE8.

Ross, please do not post the same reply more than once, it's called thread bumping.
Can you post an example image? I have a suspicion as to what might be causing the problem...█ FreelanceDaddy - freelancer's personal advisor

Are you using a .htc for IE6 to make PNGs work? If so you might need to check that you're being very specific with your conditional comments. I saw this happen recently and the poster in question claimed that fixed the problem!

As mentioned before, the problem is not an IE6 issue as I was using IE8. I have now tried to replicate the problem so that I can show it but now when I place .png images into a site they show.
What was happening though was the .png images all showed except three in the body of text. On another ocassion the bakground .png didn't show but the rest did. I did some research and came across a number of folk who said that when they first viewed the page the images showed but upon return they didn't. That would suggest that when the page has been cached it doesn't display some images.
I must admit that this sort of thing beats me entirely.
