    Flash chat question

We have done a quran portal, where a student book teacher online, we have a flash webcam chatroom made in adobe flash cs3. I want to host it in a linux server. But my friends are telling that you need to have FMS facility to run this flash chat room, can i run it in my linux server or i have to follow my friend's advice which is the right choice, but going for fms server is costly , it comes around roughly 1400$/per month for unlimited connections.

Use red5/haxevideo (free, open source) or wowza (commercial, cheaper than FMS)

There is no such thing as 'unlimited connections' in reality for FMS or any other RTMP streaming software - you'll max out any servers resources (cpu or bandwidth) once you reach in the region of 500+ simultaneous connections. Wowza is available on amazon ec2 instances and is good value plus you can scale as required.
