I think you can't make shortcuts in that topic.
Start with http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page and also take a look at http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008...opers-toolbox/
    Hope that will help

You can use WordPress professional themes to build website. Moreover, it is also easy to customize the themes. There are only few PHP files and 2-3 CSS files to modify.

SEO.com is the website that is built upon wordpress. There are plenty of professional websites built on WordPress. WP is powerful.

Yea there are no short cuts.

I would start off getting wordpress installed onto your website and then I would start tweaking it to customize your own wordpress theme. The main wordpress site has all the information you need to learn.

There is perhaps no shortcut to building a website. WordPress has a varied list of professional themes and other functionalities for a netizen to get started with building his own website. All you need to do is browse through the Internet to find out which tutorial guides you best for building your website in the best possible manner.

    Hi,

WordPress always provides you with the best professional themes, which you can use accordingly.

The steps that are require for making a web site can be done in many ways, the easy and good process is go to control panel of your web site and then go through fantastico where you will find options, choose WordPress and then follow other instructions to go further

This process is very efficient for making a web site. Also, you can make your web site manually by directly going through wordPress.com.

    Thanks!!

I have already downloaded the zip folder of wordpress into my laptop, but i was stacked at installing the software and how i could be using it to make websites from my laptop.

Instead of logging into any webhosting company or through wordpress' site before using it, is it not possible to use the software via my laptop?

You'll need to install apache, php and mysql on your laptop in order to do that. Xampp is an easy to use system that includes all of those in one package.

You'll need to configure apache it so it knows what folder on your computer to look in as the root directory. Then you'll need to have Apache and MySQL started, and in your browser go to localhost/whateverfolderyouputwordpressinto/wp-admin/install.php to install wordpress on your computer.

I thought Wordpress is just for blogging. Now, I know it can be used in creating sites. Thanks for the information. I've learned a lot from reading this thread.
