I just downloaded Apache server into my laptop & Joomla software.
Is Joomla software okay for beginners?

Secondly, how do i protect my laptop from "worms, hackers, etc? Windows alerted me of insecurity of my system.
I use Kaspersky antivrus for protection.
    Kindly assist, thanks.

I would start with Wordpress, but Joomla is fine.

I'll wait and see what other say about your security, but may I ask whether you are sitting behind a hardware firewall?

    Hey wisfort,

Simply downloading Apache isn't really something I would worry about. Have you installed it and begun running it?

Generally one doesn't run Apache off a personal laptop for anything other than development. Have you read through the documentation from the Apache site? It will explain some common best practices for configuring Apache to be a good, secure inhabitant of your PC.
