    Correctly Linearizing a Table Which Should Be Read in Columns

    Hi all,

    I have a table which should be read in columns, here's an example of my page:

    HTML Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "">
    <html xmlns="" xml:lang="en-GB" lang="en-GB">
    <head><title>Trains Tables</title></head>
    	<h1>Table of Trains</h1>
    	<table id="trains" summary="Trains in the upcoming hours...">
    			<th scope="col"></th>
    			<th id="northern" scope="col" axis="area">Northern Line</th>
    			<th id="southern" scope="col" axis="area">Southern Line</th>
    			<th id="now" axis="time" scope="row">Now</th>
    			<td headers="northern now">
    			<td headers="southern now">
    			<th id="next" axis="time" scope="row">Next</th>
    			<td headers="northern next">
    				Slow Steam Train
    			<td headers="southern next">
    				Super Fast Train
    When the table is linearized, rather than horizontal cells being placed after each other (and hence the table be read Northern, Southern, Now, Pendolino...) I want the columns to appear after each other so that the table is read Northern, Pendolino, Slow Steam Train, Southern...

    Is there a way to get this to happen?

    Cheers, Tom

    I don't think it matters from a usability standpoint because you've defined the scope on all th-elements. But maybe you where thinking of something else? When the page is linearized, everithing is going to show up in the same order as you put it in the html file.
    You know I'm not gon diss you on the internet
    Cause my mama taught me better than that
