Question why don't my images appear...?

    Hi -

I've just made my first website follwing the ian lloyd's "build your own..." book and was really happy as it all looked like it worked when I was opening my Notebook files (the html and the css) in Mozilla. However, I have put it live at www DOT diy-couture DOT co DOT uk and none of the images appear.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this may be? I am really unable to figure out what I have done wrong and am ashamed to have such a shoddy looking website live - it obviously doesn't meet the 'good web practice' standards...

    Thanks,

    Rosie

Did you upload the images as well? In the same directory as the html files?

Its mainly to do with the naming. Try removing the spaces or adding an underscore to them.

    e.g.
    change: DIYC01 thumb.jpg
    to:DIYC01_thumb.jpg

You will have to update you stylesheet (CSS) and img tags to reflect the changes
    also.

Let me know if this helps.

Just checked for one of your images and it couldn't be found:
    http://diy-couture.co.uk/logo%20SMALLER.jpg
    same for:
    http://diy-couture.co.uk/6%20DIY%20g...0SMALLER01.jpg

    So it appears that either
    1. The images haven't been uploaded to the server
    2. The images are inside another folder and the path to the images is incorrect.

Another thing to watch out for, is the way you are naming the images... best practise:
    a) no spaces in file names
    b) don't mix the case, always best to use lower case when naming files.

This actually applies to image names, folder and file names. Keep it consistent.

This could actually be another problem depending on your server, it may not like the uppercase in the files names.

A few things to check anyway :-)
