    I doubt Zeldman supports that stance anymore considering today's browsers.

    Anyway -- an easy, surefire font solution for everything but NS4 (which we should not be bothering to support anymore, IMHO):

    Set your base font size with percents, and use em's for everything else. For example:

    body { font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 84% }

    #main { font-size: 1em }

    #sidebar { font-size: .85em }

    I looked at that great link to Google's stats, and it showed absolutely no take-up for N6 at all. Even elsewhere it looks as if N4 is still well ahead of it, at 15% or so - can that be right? So maybe the arrival of N6 doesn't make much difference? (I can't quite bring myself to ignore 15% of my visitors - there aren't that many of them! It's probably different if your site is about web design, programming etc)

    (Is there anywhere else you can get good large-scale statistics on browser usage without paying?)

    A great resource on font sizes is Owen Briggs' "text sizing - up the garden path". It is a collection of 264 screenshots showing how different font size commands display in different browsers:
