Why Craigslists has millions of visitors?

Why Craigslists has millions of visitors even if the site is so simple no graphics no colors..what is the reason?

Maybe it's because it offers what its visitors want. Maybe it's because its interface design is so intuitively easy to use. Maybe it's because of the buyer/seller connection. Maybe it's because it's an excellent example of "Web2.0". And, finally, maybe it's because nobody cares about all the artsy-fartsy graphics stuff.

    cheers,

    gary
Anyone can build a usable website. It takes a graphic
designer to make it slow, confusing, and painful to use.

Design isn't everything, people get too caught up on how pretty it looks and forget what makes a website accessible, usable and for long term commitment from visitors it needs that. While pretty websites draw in attention better, once you have the user base something like craigslist which does the job is all that matters. After the first week of use, no-one cares what the site looks like anymore, it's a simple fact.

    It's the casual encounters section.

Na, seriously it's just what Gary and Alex mention above. It performs exactly as the user would expect, it's easy to use and it just works.

I visit it pretty much everyday. Not the casual encounters though I swear!

Well with their setup, how exactly could they make all the links on there look better? I mean the links take up 99% of the page! Perhaps a background image, better colored links. But that's aboujt it.

    Yeah, yeah... sure...

The site is functional and it works, and it works well. That's all the secret about it.
