Any idea how Google Bombing Works?

recently the French president Sarkozy was a victim of a Google Bombing!
when user Google "trou du cul du Web" the Sarkozy.fr is in the first rank!!
how it works? Is that a type of spamming google?

We remember whensearch query "miserable failure" to be associated with George W. Bush and Michael Moore!
