    What is your favorite IDE?

I used to be a big fan of Eclipse PHP but yesturday I switched to PHP Designer. It costs $100 but it's well worth it.

Eclipse PHP. And I would still prefer it over the PHP designer I think. Because it is free, easy plugin expandion and works on all environments that have java installed (not only windows).

Zend Studio. I really like its code analysis and some other features, and plus it's Eclipse.

(Though I got my license free. =D)

I am using phpDesigner 2008 for last 2 years and have found a lot easier to work with.

@bfaris: as far as i know it does not have such SSH connectivity facility. It only has FTP.

I used to use PHPDesigner Why did you switch? what's the biggest difference between PHP Designer and Eclipse?

The thing I really like about Eclipse is it's extensibility.
We use Eclipse PDT with the following plugins:
    - Subversive
    - Extended VS Presentation
    - Aptana
    - Regex Util
    - Quantum DB

For quick remote edits, we use vim.

I switched to PHPDesigner over eclipse because it's a lot faster. I did find that it's not as polished as some other IDEs so I switched to net beans. I'm liking what I see so far, the only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have snippets. It has palettes but I don't like how that works.

Anyone know of a plugin for netbeans for eclipse-like snippets?

I am stuck with Komodo, just works well for me. Comes in a paid edition "IDE" and a free edition "Edit". Now for me having a widescreen monitor the vertical split of Komodo is just so sweet <3 (toggle between vertical/horizontal split by double clicking on the split border. )

hey Logic Earth, I gave Komodo a try too and I really like it. The only issue I have with it is that I can't figure out how to move the code view to the right hand side, I have to toggle between project view and code view. Do you know how to change that?

Yeah to do that...open the code panel then right click the name, select one of the "Move to" options. If that option is not there you may need this extension: http://community.activestate.com/node/3089 Save it to your HDD, do not let Firefox open it! In Komodo > Tools > Add-ons > Drag the XPI file onto the newly opened window.

Eclipse or one of the other Eclipse based IDE's, there really is no competition in my eyes, its much more powerful than PHP Designer (and yes I used to use that product but switched after it turned commercial).

I've tried loads, but the two main IDEs I use now are Eclipse and GEdit, Ubuntu's built-in Text Editor (has the basics such as syntax highlighting etc).
